Spotlight on Kristijan Kosutic
October 31, 2017
Here’s our latest ‘Spotlight on’, a quick-fire round of Q&A where we get to meet the people who make CloudSense great.
It’s a fast, fun way to learn a little bit more about CloudSense’s people – from what makes them want to come to work every day – to the meal they’d pick before they met their maker on death row.
Today we venture to Zagreb and get to know Kristijan Kosutic, an IT enthusiast and Senior Consultant here at CloudSense.
Name, Position & CloudSense Office:
Kristijan Kosutic, Senior Consultant, Zagreb Croatia
What do you do at CloudSense on a day to day basis?
I wear many hats during my day. I split my time between several projects and internal work so in one day I get a chance to be a developer, technical lead, consultant and solution architect.
How long have you worked here?
I have been working at CloudSense for 4 years now.
What was your background before joining?
I joined CloudSense immediately after getting my masters degree in ICT (Information and Communication Technology).
What’s your favorite thing about the CloudSense office?
People and office culture. I think this is our strongest point and why people like working here.
When was your best day at CloudSense and why?
The Croatian summer company day when we went to Plitvice lakes. For several reasons – firstly, it is one of the most beautiful places in Croatia. I was also having a really difficult time on a project at that time and, as the trip was relaxing and fun, it came at the perfect time.
Describe a ‘CloudSense person’ in 3 words…
Smart, tenacious, collaborative.
What makes you want to come to work every day?
Every day is different. New challenges, new tasks, new problems and opportunities.
If you could switch jobs with anyone else at CloudSense, whose job would you have?
This one is a bit hard as I like my current role and the work I am doing. I think I would choose Ram Thothathri (Customer Success Engineering) as I feel his team and role is going to bring a lot of value to all our customers and improve the way we will deliver new projects. It will provide us with insight into potential problems and any mistakes we keep repeating.
Where do you see CloudSense in 5 years’ time?
I think there will be new opportunities in countries that are still behind on cloud technology. My guess is we will expand into those areas and possibly get new offices around the world.
Where’s your hometown?
Zabok, it is a small city 50 km from Zagreb.
Where’s your favorite place in the world?
My hometown. I like to go there over weekends to get some rest. My house is on a hill so there are no crowds and we have a nice scenic view of Zagorje region. It is really peaceful and quiet there – which is a nice contrast from Zagreb (which I also like very much).
What’s your favorite book?
This one is quite hard to answer as there are so many good ones, but if I have to choose then probably Malazan book of the fallen serial by Steven Erikson. Runner up would be Roger Zelazny – Chronicles of Amber.
And favorite film?
Lord of the Rings and Star Wars movies are something I can watch over and over again. I particularly love Lord of the Rings as I read the books and enjoy the imaginative storyline. The characters are easy to relate to and the film was spectacularly done.
What would be your desert island DVD box set?
That one is easy – Stargate SG 1. Best SF series ever released, I watched the series growing up and it is very creative and incredibly fun to watch.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Movies with Steven Seagal or any other 90s action movie.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Flying…You could get to other places much faster.
What would your death row meal be?
I would have my favourite thing to eat which is fried chicken breast and mashed potatoes.
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?
I would invite my friends, as for me they are the most fun people to be around.
Who would play you in the film of your life?
I would have Joseph Gordon-Levitt play me. I like his acting style and that he acts in a variety of genres. He has a good sense of humor and I really enjoy watching his films.
If you were guaranteed to be successful in a different profession, what would you do?
Scientist or professor at university. I think I would enjoy teaching and researching new things. At university I studied in a field that was related to electromagnetism so I would probably chose to teach something along those lines that was still IT focused.
